A happy flight home for a short homestand (and all the details on that)

What a road trip it’s been for the Cardinals! They have won 11 out of the last 13 games and as of this writing, are tied with the Cubs for first place.  It’s like someone wielded a blowtorch and changed the Cards’ bats from sticks of ice to smokin’ hot.  Paul DeJong hit not just one but three home runs in last night’s game.  The other Paul (Goldschmidt) has hit home runs the last four games in a row.  Tommy Edman has been the spark at leadoff that the team has needed.  Tommy’s defense at third base has been stellar.  Matt Wieters has filled in for Yadi very well, with both the bat and the glove.  During last Friday’s game, the Cards scored 10 runs in one inning.  Watching Cardinals baseball is fun again.  I’d rather enjoy watching the games than write blog posts complaining about what’s going wrong.  (Well, there are some difficult decisions coming a bit down the road, but I’ll cover them in another blog post.)

Happy flight indeed!  The Cardinals are at home sweet Busch Stadium tomorrow night for a six-game homestand against the first-place Astros and those pesky Cubs.  In fact, seven of the last ten games of the season are against the Cubs, which could help decide who wins the division.  But we have a little time before we start to worry about that.  Until then, let’s look at all the details on this upcoming homestand:
