Homestand Highlights for May 5-12, 2019 (and some thoughts)

The Cards have played some pretty good ball this season – until the last game in Washington, that is. The lengthy rain delay really messed up the team’s rhythm. The team’s visit to Chicago this weekend has not gone well. When you have runners on base, you need to get them home. Especially when your starting pitcher gives up a pitch that ends up being a grand slam. Waino is pitching tonight against Chicago as I type this. Hopefully, the Cards can pull out a win tonight for their return home to Busch Stadium tomorrow. Perhaps the comforts of the home turf will help the Cardinals get their rhythm back. Here are all the details you need for the next homestand:

HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS

Ozzie Smith’s Saturday Signing and Grateful Dead Tribute Night Highlight Third Homestand

The Cardinals look to improve upon their MLB-best 12-4 home record when they return to Busch Stadium tomorrow evening. The seven-game homestand opens with three games against the Philadelphia Phillies (May 6-8) and concludes with a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates (May 9-12). The third homestand of the year is highlighted by Mother’s Day and Cancer Awareness Theme Night.

Monday, May 6, 2019 — Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Phillies (7:05 p.m.)
